CONGRATULATIONS IAN on YOUR RETIREMENT!

As you’d expect, most, if not all, of our customers, know Ian McRitchie, our Customer Relationship Manager; after all, it has been his job to get to know them by building relationships and ensuring we are performing well and fulfilling our commitments. We say “it has been” because, sadly for us, Ian is retiring. While we wish him well in his retirement, we know we will miss him when leaves on the 18th April.

Ian started working with Excel Vending in June 2018, having previously served as a Marks and Spencer Manager. He’s been a popular person in the office from the day he started both with our customers and the Excel Vending Team. While Ian is looking forward to retirement, he admits he will really miss his role. When asked about working with Excel and which part of the job he liked most, he responded: “Working with such a great team of people has been a brilliant way to close my career. I’ve really enjoyed the variety of work I’ve been entrusted with at Excel, particularly building relationships with the loyal customers and assisting with route planning. It’s been a pleasure to work with the team and the customers; I will miss them all.”

You may recall in May 2023, Ian ran a 10k to raise money for Maggie’s. At the time, we blogged about his superb efforts, which were a great success. In the blog, we revealed Ian’s passion for Lego model building; at the time, he had just completed a beautiful model of the Titanic. He is still very keen on model building and plans to continue in his retirement. There is certainly a travel theme going on because his most recent build is an excellent model of the Orient Express!

Indeed, travel is another passion of Ian’s, and he plans to do more of it in the future. He intends to start by touring around Scotland with his partner and their two miniature pinschers to familiarise them with life in a MOTOR HOME and when he thinks the doggies  are content with life on the road ,he may venture to Spain, where he has spent time living and learning the language.

Speaking about Ian, Excel’s Managing Director, Jane MacDonald, said: “Ian has been a loyal and trusted employee who is liked by his colleagues and all our customers. He has built many good relationships and has been a valued member of the Excel Team. We will miss him when he leaves, but we all wish him a long and happy retirement.

“Thank you, Ian, for all of your commitment and hard work. I, your colleagues and our customers have appreciated it. We know you will keep in touch so we will all look forward to you popping in for a coffee and hearing about all your exciting travels.”
