The Chamber of Commerce is a local association to promote and protect the interests of the business community in Glasgow. It aims to help influence and shape the local economy, as well as to represent the interests of individual companies who are partners of the Chamber of Commerce.
The Glasgow Chamber of Commerce was borne from Glasgow’s prosperous trade in the 18th century with tobacco plantations in Virginia ending as a result of American independence. Glasgow’s merchants thus decided to pool their resources and promote their own interests. Founded in 1783 and established at a meeting in The Town House by Glasgow’s then Lord Provost, Patrick Colquhoun, the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce is the oldest chamber in the English speaking world with continuous records.
Excel Vending are proud to be members of the Chamber and grateful for the relationships we have built through it over the years. The Chamber of Commerce hold an annual prestigious awards ceremony for the Glasgow Business Awards, which we have attended for the last two years as finalists and as a winner. The awards celebrate innovation and forward thinking in business.
This year’s event takes place at the Hilton Glasgow on the 5th of October and we are delighted to have been shortlisted in two fantastic categories – Excellence in Communications and Excellence in Customer Service.
We are very much looking forward to the evening and would like to wish the other finalists the very best of luck.
