We are delighted to tell you about a special new coffee we are stocking at Excel Vending which benefits a charity very close to our heart, the Point Foundation, which helps to make a difference in East Africa.
The Coffee

Caffe Praego is not only a superb tasting coffee but it helps to support local communities in Rwanda devastated by the horrendous 1994 genocide. Grown high in the hills in the coffee trees of Rwanda, the perfect climate of rich volcanic soils and mountain spring waters combine to produce this high quality coffee with an irresistible aroma. The coffee is sourced directly from the growers, then the funds and support are put back into the communities, helping them to become self sufficient.
Caffe Praego source the bulk of their green Arabica coffee beans directly from Ingoboka Co-operative next to Lake Kivu with four other co-operatives providing green beans for the Connoisseurs range. For every case of the coffee sold, £3 is sent to the Point Foundation for use in community projects in Rwanda. In 2016, Caffe Praego donated £30,000 back to the Point Foundation with £45,000 forecast for 2017. Every single penny of this is given to the projects in need. These donations go towards education and caring for children with newborn defects, cerebral palsy, deafness, blindness and disabilities following genocide. Caffe Praego also funds 66 children from surrounding villages to attend the House of Children School in Giseyni, paying for their school fees, transport, lunches, uniforms and books.

The Point Foundation
The Point Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit organisation, set up in 2006 by Chairman Charles Trace with Sally Gunnell OBE as Patron. Charles became involved with several projects in South Africa before moving onto Rwanda where the charity rebuilt and then funded several orphanages. Following reunification and orphanage closure throughout Rwanda in 2016, the Point Foundation helped set up several schools and a disability programme to enable 44 severely disabled children return to the community. The Point Foundation have supported around 4500 vulnerable or orphaned children in Rwanda and South Africa since the start in 2006.
Who We Support

Regular readers of our blog will remember Andrew, the young man we have supported through the Point Foundation over the last couple of years. Excel Vending have been sponsoring Andrew, a keen violinist and keyboard player through his studies in music so that he is able to enjoy a first class education. We are delighted to be stocking Caffe Praego to further benefit the Point Foundation in supporting people like Andrew.
